How to pick the right AI tool for your business

The AI Tool Explosion

If you've noticed AI tools multiplying faster than you can keep track of, you're not alone. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Runway, Jasper, Copy.ai — the list is endless.

But here's the real problem: just because a tool exists doesn't mean it's right for your business.

Our Framework

We've built and deployed AI across 50+ businesses. Here's what we've learned about picking the right tools:

1. Start with the problem, not the tool

The biggest mistake? Falling in love with a tool and then trying to find a problem it solves. That's backwards.

Start with your biggest pain point. What takes hours? What's repetitive? What's costly? Then find the tool that solves it.

2. Test before you commit

Most AI tools have a free tier or trial. Use it. Spend a week with it. Does it actually solve your problem? Is the learning curve reasonable? Will your team use it?

3. Integration matters

A great tool in isolation is still isolated. Can it talk to your other systems? Slack? Email? CRM? The best tools integrate seamlessly.

4. Cost per outcome, not cost per user

Don't compare tools by subscription price. Compare them by what they save you. If a $50/month tool saves you 5 hours a week, that's incredible. If a $5/month tool saves you nothing, that's expensive.

The Tools We Recommend Most

For copywriting and content: Claude and ChatGPT (tie). Both are exceptional.

For image generation: Midjourney. No competition.

For automation: Make or Zapier, depending on complexity.

For voice/video: Runway or Synthesia.

What to Avoid

Avoid bundled "AI suites" that try to do everything. They're usually bad at everything.

Avoid proprietary solutions that lock you in. Portability matters.

Avoid tools that require zero setup. Good tools require thoughtful implementation.

Next Steps

Pick your top 3 pain points. Find the best tool for each. Test them for a week. Then decide.

That's it. Simple framework. It works.
